EME 6209 – Assignments for Learning Cycle 5

Here are the two major activities for this cycle, plus an introduction to story for your trailers.

Reminder: Don’t forget to vote for your top two favorite stop action videos!

  • The readings/lessons this week have two parts:
    1. First review the lesson on story and change. It is an important preamble to the next project: Change Story
    2. Then you are to produce a 2-3 minute change story video .The assignments to create a video based on the context introduced in the lesson.

  • There are two parts to the assignment that deals with your final project:
    1. A few weeks ago we covered the Story Invention Process, followed by visual storytelling. The Lesson Module for this cycle takes the latter discussion one step further. In it we discuss how to parse an existing story (whether you are reading it or viewing it on a movie) to look for the four story elements. Our exemplar is scenes from the movie The Adjustment Bureau.
    2. Review the Lesson on Book Trailers. This is broken down into three parts. This lesson introduces the final project.  I am assuming all three of you have agreed to work together. So, your only deliverable is get together with your team and allocate responsibilities for the George Washington’s Socks trailer. Develop your story board and begin your planning. .
