At least you can buy a good shovel.<\/span><\/strong><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><br \/>\n<div class=\"su-divider su-divider-style-default\" style=\"margin:15px 0;border-width:3px;border-color:#999999\"><\/div><\/p>\n<p>Teams that work to produce software that meet the goals of HCI must possess a wide range of knowledge about <a href=\"http:\/\/bigthink.com\/insights-of-genius\/to-benefit-from-technology-we-need-to-understand-psychology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">human psychology and technology<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h4>Breakdown: This is the evaluation\/assessment process associated with HCI:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Study of the <strong>capability of the human brain and one&#8217;s senses<\/strong> that are used in human-computer interactions.<\/li>\n<li>A human&#8217;s ability to <strong>learn how to use computing <\/strong>systems.<\/li>\n<li>The context of <strong>joint performance<\/strong>&nbsp; &#8212; which is more important? the&nbsp; human? the computer? what about <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Human%E2%80%93computer_interaction\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">human-computer-human interactions<\/a>? (more than a simple Yes\/No)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong> Characteristics of interface agents: Consider these terms <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Attractiveness, age, facial expressions, gender, familiarity, casting, image size, motion, resolution, closeness, engagement<\/li>\n<li>Psychological responses can be triggered by any or all of the above<\/li>\n<li>Also understand asking users what they think isn\u2019t always an accurate reflection of true feelings. They won\u2019t always tell the truth<\/li>\n<li>How do you measure effectiveness?<\/li>\n<li>Language is not always the reason for misunderstanding; It can sometimes be cultural differences<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong> Mediated matters: When trying to decide how to design interfaces one must also consider many of the following <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>What elements make human-human conversations work?<\/li>\n<li>What makes human-human communication work?<\/li>\n<li>Is the body language involved?<\/li>\n<li>Intonation, etc.<\/li>\n<li>Does flattery work better with people who are less confident about their work? (Is flattery obligatory even when not warranted?)<\/li>\n<li>Would it work with computers? If it flattered you you\u2019d like it better?<\/li>\n<li>Does flattery work better with people who are less confident about their work?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong> Visual design: Tons of research has been done on the following<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>How a picture fills a visual field affects your perceptions<\/li>\n<li>How a picture fills a field affects your perception<\/li>\n<li>Size of the screen, angles, shading, coloration, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong> How do we measure our responses? <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Attention (how to gain\/maintain it)<\/li>\n<li>The WAY we look @ media figures (I bet you are surprised when you see movie\/TV actors who play different parts (do we tend to stereo-type them?)<\/li>\n<li>The distribution of personality types may influence our judgments of people in the real world (Here is where all the &#8220;does playing violent video games influence personal behavior comes into play).<\/li>\n<li>HCI is a two-way street.
